Funding was given to two projects in the recent BSI Dragons' Den event.

Funding was awarded to the research team Lore Thaler (Psychology) and Ian Jermyn (Mathematical Sciences).  Their proposal: Teaching and Evaluating the Use of Palatal Clicks for Human Echolocation, aims to develop technology to aid individuals develop these specialised clicks and could lead to a better understanding of human echolocation.

A collaboration between Chemistry's Ahmed Eissa and Physics' Penny Lawton was also awarded funding towards their project which asks the question Can we mimic receptor mediated endocytosis in a purely synthetic system?  This project sets out to measure the forces involved when a synthetic polymersome engulfs a specialised nanoparticle.
