Flowermen Art Exhibition by Liz Sparks

15th October 2012, 10:00 to 16:00, Repeated daily until 30th November 2012, Botanic Garden

Liz Sparks is a Nottinghamshire based artist with a degree in Fine Art from Sheffield Hallam University and City and Guilds Certificate in Constructed Textiles for which she was nominated for a gold award of excellence in 2011. Her work explores the physicality of the human body, its relationship to our environment and the tension of the dynamic between the two.

The paper floral presentations in "Flower men" reaffirm the sensuality of human touch by focussing on our relationship with plants.  Inspired by the  "Language of Flowers", Liz ventured out as an avid plant explorer during the summer of 2011, engaging with fellow plant lovers, chancing upon hidden floral expressions.  Her work is a playful interpretation of traditional Victorian social etiquette. Here the subtle innuendo of floral encounters becomes enriched anew by the worldly desires and aspirations of today's men and women.

Liz is an active member of the Backlit studios, www.backlit.org.uk , a diverse group of Nottingham based experimental artists.
