Job Description
Responsible for commercialising research outputs within the Physical Sciences sector. IP lead responsibility for the departments of Economics Finance & Business, Education, Chemistry
Engineering & computing science, Earth Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physics, Psychology, Durham Energy Institute, Institute of Computational Cosmology, and the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology.
Identifies, assesses and develops research disclosures to determine the IP exploitation strategy. Markets IP to potential commercial partners and collaborators.
Supports academic staff in the raising of finance and/or through collaborative agreements to demonstrate proof of principle in the commercialisation of research outputs and where appropriate creates spin out companies. Specifies and negotiates terms and agreement structures for commercial licensing deals and first point of contact for IP advice on research contracts related to business and industry.
Working with the Business Partnership Managers to enhance research income by brokering new research contracts associated with potential licensing of IP.
