Year 1: Four compulsory modules provide a common platform of knowledge for all new students and a broad perspective of Biological / Biomedical Sciences. Two optional modules allow a choice of study across the University, however entrants without A level chemistry will be required to use one of these options to take the chemistry for biology module.
Year 2: Students have a free choice as to whether to take Biological or Biomedical Sciences routes
Optional 40 week placement between years 2 and 3.
Year 3: Students either follow the Batchelor's route and graduate with BSc this year, or for those who have good grades in year 2, they can elect to follow a Masters Route. Both Biological and Biomedical Sciences routes permit entry to the MBiol program
BSc Opportunities for field courses, research projects, Biology Enterprise, Biology into Schools modules and specialist taught bioscience modules.
MBiol Biosciences. A similar course to that of the BSc route, except that in place of the BSc project, students can take an additional taught bioscience module.
Year 4: MBiol students take an additional field/course workshop, a specialist module on research skills, and a research project which extends across two and a half terms.
