Leica SP5 Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope SP5 This system has no dichroic mirrors or filters. The laser lines are switched very rapidly by an AOBS (acoustic optical beam splitter) and instead of filters the emitted light is split in to its constituent wavelengths and discriminated by a system of a prism and adjustable spectrometers/mirrors which allows for your emission settings to be completely tunable. In addition our SP5 has 5 PMTs allowing you to images 5 different colours/fluorophores simultaneously. This system is not only capable of high quality images, but can also acquire at speed. The resonance scanner scans at up to 16000 Hz resulting in the ability to produce a 512x512 image at 25 fps, very fast for a point scanner. If you only need to image a smaller slice then this can increase to 250 fps.The microscope in enclosed in a environmental chamber allowing the control of CO2 and temperature.
