Access and Student Recruitment

The Access and Student Recruitment Team is part of The Student Recruitment and Admissions Office (SRAO). Our team is specifically concerned with: 

  • Working nationally to encourage gifted applicants onto our programmes, particularly those from underrepresented groups.

  • Forming partnerships both regionally and nationally with schools, colleges, LEAs and other relevant institutions and organisations. 

  • Working with young people with little or no aspiration towards or experience of higher education, to encourage them to fulfil their potential. 

Furthermore the Access and Student Recruitment Team actively supports the implementation of the University’s Access Agreement, as well as disseminating information about the new fee arrangements. 

Our staff are experts in the field of applying to Higher Education and in particular Durham University. They combine enthusiasm with the ability to empathise and give relevant advice, working with school leavers and adult learners, applicants from state and independent schools and young people from a wide variety of backgrounds. They also have a comprehensive knowledge of the University and are called upon to represent not only the University as a whole, but individual colleges and departments as required.
