Zardari greets LIFE on its Silver Jubilee - Associated Press of Pakistan

President Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated the Lahore Institute of Fertility and Endocrinology (LIFE) on successful completion of its 25 years in medical research and provision of treatment to people.

The message was read out last midnight by leading gynaecologist and member of the first tube baby procedure in Pakistan Prof Dr.Saqib Siddiq at silver jubilee of LIFE, the President said that the completion of a quarter century is a watershed mark in the history and evolution of any institution and the LIFE can be genuinely proud of achieving this milestone. The President said “ It is reassuring that the institute has in addition to providing treatment, also been engaged in medical research”. He said research constitutes the building blocks of human knowledge. The pyramid of medical knowledge that we see today and from which we benefit has been erected brick by brick by the research of our peers and forefathers in medical profession. The issues infertility and IVF babies also touch upon the ethics of a society and are therefore sensitive in nature. “I am pleased to learn that the institute is conscious of this and the treatment administered at its facilities is carried out in accordance with the ethical guidelines.” President Zardari welcomed the distinguished delegates who have gathered to celebrate the silver jubilee and all those associated with the institute and wished the LIFE all the success and glorious years ahead.
