Research

As one might expect from what is traditionally considered to be the third oldest of the English universities, Durham University places a premium on research activities amongst its academic staff alongside their teaching roles. The departments in the faculty of Arts & Humanities are at the forefront of this research activity, and each of our departments produces world-class research. This is a research heritage of which we are proud and based on this long-term tradition of research excellence we continue to pursue our aim to be a world leading research institution both now and into the future.
