Musicon Concerts: Allegri String Quartet

Beethoven String Quartet No 11 in F minor Op 95
Shostakovich String Quartet No 8 in C minor Op 110
Borodin
String Quartet No 2 in D major

The Allegri Quartet embarked on performing a complete cycle of Beethoven’s string quartets in 2010 at Kings Place in London over two seasons. Their performances have been sell-out events in London, and so was their last appearance in Durham in April 2011! This is an opportunity to listen to their critically acclaimed performance of the ‘Serioso’ quartet alongside Shostakovich’s powerful No 8 and Borodin’s lyrical No 2.
