Department of Anthropology

Support

Our students are supported by a wide variety of people, structures and mechanisms. Teachers and administrative staff are the face to face point of contact, and whilst email correspondence can be the most efficient way to start a conversation about academic interests or concerns, staff welcome students making direct contact.

DUO

The university's electronic teaching interface, DUO, is an essential support mechanism for students. In addition to individual module sites, our DUO site contains a wealth of vital information, about deadlines, events, office hours, regulations and so forth.

Financial Support

To help support postgraduate students in their studies, the department is able to provide a maximum of £200 per academic year to full-time (£100 for part-timers) postgraduate students without other sources of funding to support attendance at conferences, language training, travel or training necessary for fieldwork, or other approved research needs such as bench fees.

Students with Disabilities

Where appropriate, students are supported through DUSSD and the Department's disability officers. The administrative team are also an integral part of the Department's support structures. Where necessary, the administrative and academic staff team applies for concessions related to DUSSD or other circumstances, and maintains records of Serious Adverse Circumstances which might affect academic performance. The department has dedicated Harassment and Diversity officers.

College support

Your college will also offer a strong, supportive environment, with a comprehensive support system of tutors and welfare officers enabling you to make the most of your time as a student.
