SEMINARS 2002

All students will have to attend two seminars, one in each term, at times to be arranged. The seminars will last for one hour. The seminars will deal with themes in nineteenth century political life, such as public opinion, elections, the working of parliament, the crown and aristocracy, local government, ideology, social reform, class, or gender.

Seminar times for Epiphany Term are listed below; together with the names of those who have signed up so far; please note the time / place to which you have committed yourself. If you need to change seminars, please let AJH know.

There will be no prelimary reading required for the seminars. Students may (indeed should) avail themselves of the booklists, when they have chosen their topic, so that they can come prepared to discuss the issues involved intelligently. Conversely, all students must contribute vocally, in order to make the exercise worth while. I have added some small items for "further reading" should you wish to follow up the seminar.
