Curriculum Development
The Academic Support Office manages the curriculum development process for all new and existing programmes at Durham University. Curriculum development is carried out under the authority of Senate, through Education Committee (a sub-committee of Senate) and Faculty Education Committees (sub-committees of Education Committee).
The regulations for curriculum development are contained in Section 3 of the Learning and Teaching Handbook. Departments schools wishing to create, amend or withdraw any module or programme (taught or research degree) should consult this document in the first instance. Any further queries regarding curriculum development should be directed to the appropriate Assistant Registrar or Faculty Support Officer. They are:

Deadlines for Curriculum Development
For curriculum development to take effect from October 2012
- Undergraduate: all documentation to be received by ASO no later than 25 January 2013
- Postgraduate: all documentation to be received by ASO no later than 1 May 2013
All curriculum development should be approved by the relevant board(s) of studies before it is sent to ASO (this approval may be at a full meeting of the board or by chair's action on behalf of the board).
