GD402: Publish or perish: an introduction to publishing and reviewing journal articles - 13 June 2012 12:00

Course information
Course codeGD402
Course titlePublish or perish: an introduction to publishing and reviewing journal articles
Description

Perplexed by the publication process? Ravaged by reviewers? Elbowed by editors? To someone in the early stages of their research career, academic publication in journals can seem at best a lottery and at worst a jargon filled jungle.

This course will attempt to demystify publishing in academic journals. You will submit a short article (1000 words), which will be peer reviewed by other participants. You will review two such articles yourself, in accordance with set quality criteria, and you will supply referees reports for these items. You will then, in light of the reports on your own submission revise your work and resubmit it for acceptance. The articles will be collated and printed as a booklet for dissemination amongst the group.
