- World-class, multi-million pound facilities on two campuses, including a £1m powered rowing tank, only one of three in the whole of the UK

- World renowned fencing coach, Professor Laszlo Jakab, is the university's fencing coach, an Olympic Coach and the Paralympics GB Coach
