Ogden Centre

The striking, contemporary glass design of the Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics was completed in 2002, thanks to generous donations from JIF (the Joint Infrastructure Fund sponsored by the DTI, the Wellcome Trust and HEFCE), the Ogden Trust, Durham University and JREI (the Joint Research Equipment Initiative). The building was officially opened by the Rt Hon Tony Blair, and houses the Institute for Computational Cosmology and the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology. Three sculptures by John Robinson were generously donated by Damon de Laszlo and Robert A. Hefner III. The sculptures can be seen outside the building and touch upon elements of the research undertaken within the Ogden Centre: Starburst, Forces of Nature and Journey.
