Note: MR. T. BODIMEADE

A veteran of the Indian Frontier campaigns of 1897-98 and of the Boer and Great Wars, Mr Thomas Bodimeade of 103, Church Lane, Harrow Weald, died on Tuesday last week at the age of 78.

Mr Bodimeade was born at 4, Alma Cottages, Harrow Weald and apart from his service in the Army lived in Harrow Weald all his life. He joined the Army at the age of 19 and served abroad for nearly 9 of his 10 years service in the first instance. He received 2 clasps to his Indian War medal and 5 to his South African War medal. At the time he was in the Northamptonshire Regiment but when he went to his 3rd war, the World War of 1914-1918, he joined his county regiment, with which he again saw foreign service.

After his final demobilisation Mr Bodimeade, who had started life as a farm labourer became a packer at H.M.Stationery Office.

The funeral took place at Harrow Weald cemetery on Friday, the Rev. C.S. Durham, vicar of All Saints officiating.

Mourners included: Mr T.J. Bodimeade,son; Mrs Emily Carpenter and Mrs Ada Minter, daughters; Mr H.W. Bodimeade, son; Mrs M. Lewis, sister; Miss M. Carpenter and Mr T. Carpenter, grandchildren; Mr and Mrs G. Lewis, nephew and niece; Mrs D. Moppet, Mrs R. Lovegrove and the Misses S. and A. Gurney, nieces.
