St Chad's College Choir
University of Durham
Welcome
St Chad's College Choir represents a wide cross-section of the College, welcoming undergraduates, postgraduates and members of staff alike. We are delighted to welcome singers from other Colleges.
The Choir's primary function is to sing at the College Eucharist on Sunday mornings and mid-week Choral Evensong and Compline, as well as providing music for the major feast-days which fall during term. In addition, the Choir also sings at the College's annual Advent Procession in Durham Cathedral. The College values its Choir highly and provides it with many opportunities to play a full and central part in the cultural life of the College. These range from regular concerts and recitals, to the annual celebration of St Chad’s Day and the College Carol Service. Three CD recordings have been released and are available for purchase from the College.
The Choir's activity, however, is not bounded by the walls of the College. We enjoy shared services and exchanges with other Choirs, concerts in parish churches, Cathedral tours (the Choir has recently sung in Blackburn, Worcester, Lincoln, Wakefield, Southwell, York and Durham). The Choir have recently toured to Canada (twice) and Ireland and have just returned from a third tour of the USA where they sang concerts and services in Albany, Schenectady, Princeton, and New York City.
