Phase1 of the GeoPOP project commenced in July 1994 and is a multidisciplinary geosciences investigation into the causes of overpressure with specific reference to the North Sea. The project is being conducted by three British Universities, Durham, Newcastle and Heriot - Watt.
Phase 2 of GeoPOP commenced from the 1st May 1998, and is currently being sponsored by fourteen major oil companies..
