Durham University is marking the 20th anniversary of its Queen’s Campus site in Stockton with a visit from Professor Lord Robert Winston, well-known fertility expert and television presenter. The occasion also marks the official opening of the GP training programme in the new 4th wing of the campus’ Wolfson Building. -

£7 million new Law School formally opened

Leading barrister and human rights lawyer Baroness Helena Kennedy has officially opened Durham University’s impressive new Law School building.
Baroness Kennedy said: "Durham University has one of the leading law schools in the world and this new building will take it into a league of its own. I feel so honoured to be opening it – it really is state of the art, with facilities which are unmatched anywhere in the UK." -

At the core of work in the Durham Law School are research clusters, which include centres and groups specialising in Human Rights, Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, Gender and Law, European Law, Commercial and Corporate Law, Law and Conflict, Islam and Law, Ethics, Law in the Life Sciences, and Legal Theory.

Lindisfarne Gospels Durham will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a selection of St Cuthbert’s treasures alongside the book that was written in his honour. The exhibition will run from 1st July till 30th September and will be housed in in Durham University’s new world-class facilities in Palace Green Library. -
Three-month festival of events
The North East will celebrate the Lindisfarne Gospels with a three-month festival of events, workshops and activities inspired by the 1000 mile journey St Cuthbert’s body took en route from Holy Island to its final resting place in Durham Cathedral. -
