Resources for Key Stage 2

Primary Sources

Primary Sources home page   This site hosts a wide range of lesson plans, activities and resources designed to enable teachers to develop pupils' literacy and numeracy skills in more imaginative and creative ways.  We, along with five other of the region's archives, have provided the source material to create these unique resources, which are themed around topic areas. Funding for this project was provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Literacy and archives

Literacy resources

Archives are not just an amazing resource for the teaching of history – they can also be used to teach literacy. We have started to produce some worksheets showing how archival material can be used to look at various kinds of texts that are based around the theme of the Home Front. These downloadable pdf worksheets have been created by one of our students, Annette Shaw.
