APPENDIX 1

Issued in connection with
93rd Inf. Bde Operation Order No 232

SIGNALS

1. The Main Communication Route will be:-

Brigade HQ at E & b 0 9
Battalion Battle HQ at E 21 a 9 3
Central Coy HQ } LUG FARM (E 23 c 3 7)
Forward Report Centre

2. TELEPHONE

There will be three pairs by alternative routrs from BDe HQ to Battalion Battle HQ and three pairs by alternative routes from Battalion Battle HQ to Central Coy HQ at LUG FARM. Battalion Battle HQ will have a direct line to Battalion HQ on Right (to be laid by Battalion on Right) at E 27 a 0 0.

3. WIRELESS P B & AMPLIFIER

There is a trench set at Brigade HQ which will work to Brigade on Right at FETTLE FARM and to Division. Power Buzzer and Amplifier will be established at Battalion Battle HQ to work back to Brigade and to combine Battalion HQ on Right at E 27 a 0 0.
Power Buzzer and Amplifier will be established at LUG FARM to work back to Battalion Battle HQ and to Brigade Forward Station on Right at E 28 d 5 7.

4. PIGEONS

12 Birds will be sent to Battalion for distribution to Companies as required. Some of these birds to be sent up to the farthest forward point in the present area from which the situation can be seen, and where there is an Officer - say LUG FARM.

5. CONTACT PATROL

'Popham' T Panel will be established at Central Company HQ to send messages if required. This Station will be marked by a semi-circular ground sheet with the letter 'N' above it (by ground strips). Messages picked up here will be dropped at the Brigade Dropping Station or the Divisional Dropping Station.

6. RUNNERS

The main Runner Route will be from LUG FARM to Right Company HQ at E 22 a 9 3 to Battalion Battle HQ. These Routes will be taped out beforehand and will be well off the LA MOTTE-VIEUX BERQUIN Rd thence to present Battalion HQ at E 14 d 5 3 - thence to Brigade by bicycles.
Relay Posts will be established at all the above points.
